Had Enough?
Have you had enough? Had enough of your tax dollars given away to wealthy bankers, wall street moguls, and insurance company or auto industry CEO's?
I've had enough and now I want my money back.
In place of that here's solution # 1 to fixing the economy:
Here's the solution: send each 1040 filer $25K, or a max of $50K for each household. Talk about a stimulus package! What would millions of households do with $50K? Spend it! Buy a new car! Pay bills and credit card debt! Even if people save it, it builds capital. The only rule: if you are in trouble with your mortgage you have to use at least 60% of the money to fix that issue. The solution here is just this simple. Take our money and give it back to us. We'll fix the economy.
As we have learned today (CNN March 10 on The Situation Room p if we can trust Wolf's reporting) some of the big banks we gave our tax $ to are sending it overseas...to where? To places where the folks don't even like us all that much, the Middle East! SO YOU BETCHA, I WANT MY MONEY BACK!
Solution #2: Fixing the infrastructure: OK, no new gas tax! However, we all know that we need to get our roads and bridges, state and federal, fixed. So here's what we can do over the next 5 years to get some quick cash for roads and bridges: everyone pays $7.50 a month per licensed motorized vehicle (yep, that means the Harley as well). No exceptions, unless you earn below the poverty level. If you are Jay Leno and you own 30 vehicles, well the math is: 30 x $7.50, or $225 a month or $2700 a year...no whining Jay, you can afford it). The rest of us schmucks pay the $7.50 a month. And yes, that means you too Mr. Ag-guy and your tractors, I see you driving around on the highways in that brand spanking new John Deere. For the average 2 car family that will mean $14 an month or $168 a year. If the proposed .18c a gallon tax is enacted you'll pay a lot more (the average family will pay over $200 a year) and Congress will never repeal it! Of the $7.50, $2.50 goes to the state. The tax is deducted each month just like SS or Medicare. After 5 years it goes away. We all use the highways, so let's bite the bullet, get the roads fixed and move on! One bonus: those of us earning less than $250K a year get to deduct this 'tax' on our 1040! So you see, it is just that simple!
I know this sounds simplistic, but for too long now we have allowed our elected representatives and our civil servants (and that is what they are) befuddle us with their endlessly complicated excuses and solutions that serves only their wealthy donors. Is it that complicated? Not really. If this is a free enterprise system, then let it be free and that means an even playing field. I have had enough, haven't you?
